On the 25th April - a somewhat stormy day - we welcomed the arrival of my mare Tia’s filly foal. She is perfect and very cheeky. We think she will turn grey and we look forward to watching her grow.

I have another couple of new arrivals, but people this time not horses. My old school friend Fleur Hallam has recently returned from living in France, and has taken on the role of helping me develop my website, catch up on admin and help Amy with the horse care a couple of days a week. Fleur is an equine photographer and will also continue with her photography work and can hopefully get some fantastic images for us all of our horses at clinics this summer. Also a big welcome to our trainee Horsemanship coach Fran Absell-Maurice who has moved her horse to Broad Oak Stables for a couple of months and I am really looking forward to us training together. Fran is really excited to be part of the team as another coach having being partly taught by myself, I can highly recommend her.
Places on the Young Horses for Starting are currently full but I will have some spaces available for the coming months so please contact me to book a place. Unfortunately due the bad weather we have had I had to make the decision to cancel the last Top-Up training but the next one will be held on the 12th May at Broad Oak Stables. I have some more Top-Up training days scheduled for the summer, these will held on the following dates:

  • Saturday 2nd June
  • Saturday 16th June
  • Saturday 7th July
  • Thursday 19th July
  • Saturday 4th August
  • Saturday 18th August
I am really looking forward to the first Clinic of the season - Introduction to Groundwork & Liberty - held on the 25th to 27th May. I still have a couple of places left, but please contact me about these quickly before they are filled. On the 19th May I am doing a demo for the Shropshire Natural Horsemanship Group at Broad Oak Stables and spectators are very welcome.

Booked onto the first clinic are  some young horses just started, as well as some developing horses brushing up on there basics as well as demos by myself, Fran, Amy and other dedicated  students of the horse to provide inspiration as well as a picture of the techniques and theory covered on the clinic to aid learning.

Thanks to everyone that came to the demo for the South Staffordshire Riding Club last weekend. It was great to see many familiar faces as well as some new ones. I hope you were able to take some fun ideas away with you to practise on your own horses. I am going to head out and ride now, in between the showers, but I look forward to catching up with you all over the coming weeks.

All the best,
Arran
