Description
Once you and your horse have established some basic skills on the ground, developing a connection in your ground work and at liberty is the next vital part of developing your training and relationship. To really get the best out of this clinic it is a good idea to have already put in place a good foundation on the ground with your horse and be able to influence the different parts of his body from the ground at all gates with clear communication, confidence, and relaxation.
In many spheres we work our horses for different reasons, whether it be leisure, competitive sport or to create an income, but it is important to never sacrifice relationship in pursuit of results. This clinic will teach you and your horse to work towards being able to have your horse stay connected to you; mentally, emotionally and physically engaging in a range of disciplines, techniques and exercises specific to your individual goals.
As you have no doubt experienced, by trying to follow the many technical books, DVDs and horse training programs available to us, technique (although very important) alone is not enough to create exciting results with our horses. It is your feel and timing and the underlying feeling that exists behind the written word and techniques we practise that creates that invisible something that you can't quite explain that goes on between you and your horse. Such as 'when you think it and it happens', or when you watch a horse work with a human with such connection that you can no longer tell how much of the conversation at play is coming from the horse or the human. This clinic provides a great opportunity to not only experience this but to learn to create and maintain a connection between you and your horse beyond what you ever thought possible.
Because horses are born body language experts by linking your thoughts with your body, (your insides with your outsides) your horse will look into you and read you like never before, creating a connection between horse and human like no other.
Typically the day starts at 10am once you have got a hot drink and a note pad ready we will discuss some theory behind the topics we will be covering as well as answering any questions you may have. Then we will start work with our horses in some group work but mostly one to one sessions which enables us to really focus on the individual. This means that when you are not working with your horse you have a great opportunity to spectate other horses and pick up the finer details that are easier to see as an outsider looking in. Then we will take an hour for lunch, pick up further training in the afternoon, then usually round everything up just before 5pm. This clinic will also be interspersed by inspiration demonstrations by students of the horse who have practised and perfected the techniques covered showing fantastic results at different stages of training.
If you have any questions related to any of the above or any queries relating specifically to you and your horses' needs please don't hesitate to get in touch.
